Cottage Press Resources

Our favorite products and organizations

  • Primer Two students work in a separate copybook. Sewn-bindings that lay flat work best. The inexpensive 50-100 page composition books available at discount stores work very well, and they are available in many styles.

  • For your student’s nature notebook (optional for Primer One, required for Primer Two), look for a sketch pad with heavy paper and a lay-flat binding. Here is a nice short guide for getting started with nature journals.

  • Good quality colored pencils are the best choice, offering more control and precision than crayons or lower-quality colored pencils. Colors blend beautifully! Highly recommended for Picture Study and Nature Study.

  • Home Geography for Primary Grades is used for Nature Study lessons in all Primer Two books (free download here).

  • The Primer series is designed to reinforce, not replace, a strong systematic phonics and spelling program. Here are a few of our favorites.
