Primer Two, Spring

  • Twelve weeks of Language Lessons with a seasonal focus.

    Weekly routine includes copybook, narration from accompanying literature, grammar, and spelling lessons based on copybook model, nature study, and picture study.

    Spelling and grammar lessons reinforce spelling rules; introduce basic sentence skills including capitalization and punctuation; identify and practice correct usage of nouns and pronouns; practice correct word usage with homonyms, antonyms, and synonyms; introduce figures simile and onomatopoeia; practice rhyming skills.

  • Do the Primer Two books have to be used in sequence?

    Autumn, Winter, and Spring are generally sequential in skills, but can be used out of sequence if necessary.

    Do students need to complete Primer One before beginning Primer Two?

    It is not necessary for students to have completed Primer One in order to begin Primer Two. All necessary skills are introduced in Primer Two.

    What skills should my student have before starting Primer Two?

    The Primer Two student should have achieved intermediate spelling and phonics proficiency, be ready for beginning chapter books, and be able to copy words and sentences.

    Can Primer Two be used by older students?

    Primer Two is generally appropriate for 3rd-4th grade students but could be used effectively by older students as well.
