More about Sentence Sense
A sentence diagram supplies a visual representation of the relationship between the parts of the sentence. Discerning these relationships is an exercise in logic. Practiced regularly, sentence diagramming improves grammar, writing, and reading comprehension. In higher levels of prose and poetry, a sentence diagram can be a valuable aid to comprehension of a challenging or complicated argument. In your own writing, diagramming will help you pinpoint grammatical errors and perfect sentence structure. Parsing is application of technical grammar concepts to real sentences. Frequent sentence parsing exercises for students will result in permanent mastery of grammar concepts. Scholars young and old profit by the traditional practice of diagramming and parsing worthwhile sentences drawn from worthy books.
